Create and preview a TV Channel safely

Prepare a music-linked screen channel, review its output, and hand installation details to IT without claiming a physical screen is online.

Before you begin

A TV Channel combines a zone's music context with a screen layer. The dashboard can prove configuration and preview output, but it cannot prove that a physical TV, signage player, or IPTV endpoint is actually online.

You will need

  • A zone with the music source the screen should follow.
  • Approved visual content or a screen schedule to review.
01

Open TV Channels

Choose TV Channels in the dashboard. The workflow separates Music, Screen, and Install so each responsibility is visible.

02

Create the channel and choose its zone

Choose New channel or Create your first channel. Select the zone whose music context should drive the channel, then add the approved screen layer.

03

Review Channel output and Screen schedule

Use Channel output to inspect the visual result and Screen schedule to confirm what should appear over time. Keep content approval separate from device installation.

04

Use Preview only before installation

Choose Preview only while creative and operational review is still underway. This proves the configured output without implying that a real screen has been commissioned.

05

Prepare the TV setup handoff

Open TV setup and give IT the deployment path intended for the final device. Treat the permanent channel URL as unlisted operational information.

If the channel token is rotated, existing screens using the old URL can go dark within about ten seconds. Coordinate rotation with the person responsible for every installed endpoint.

Confirm it worked

What success looks like

  • The channel preview shows the approved zone and visual content.
  • The screen schedule matches the planned venue use.
  • The handoff says Preview only or Not verified yet until the final screen is tested in the field.

Troubleshooting

The preview works, but the TV is blank

Treat this as a deployment issue, not proof that the channel is broken. Check the final device, browser or signage route, network, and the exact unlisted channel URL.

Screens stopped after a token rotation

Update every installed endpoint with the new permanent URL. The old token is intentionally invalidated quickly.
